Went and did it

I accidentally bought a new truck last night. I say accidentally because I called my car salesman friend and asked him if he could make a deal I didn't think he could make. Long story made short, I finally got that white 4x4 I've been wanting. My 2002 was never quite what I wanted (black is only nice when it's winter and the truck has just been washed), and I recently got a new wife and young step son. The wife didn't like to drive the manual and the step son needs his own door. That gave me something to sell sell the wife on, but I didn't expect that she was going to say yes. Well, she did and I took her along and it was her idea to get the Laramie rather than the Sport I was looking at. ("This one has leather seats, and they're heated. The passenger seat is electric too...I think we should get this one." -- what a great wife I have!)

So, I've ended up with a white 2006 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 long bed with auto tranny and electric transfer case. I think I'll be driving this truck a long time. I feel disloyal to the 2002, and I hope someone buys it who appreciates it.

Now I need to figure out what to do to this one...

I think you should have compromised.... A Laramie Sport

Seriously, enjoy it. The 3rd gen trucks are more comfortable and easier to drive. I know, I own both.

Well, to be honest, the Sport wasn't my preference, but they thought it was the only white one they had left with a long bed. When I walked around and saw the Laramie, I started to disregard it because it was about $3K more, but the wife liked it so I went for it.

Good for you Tad. I hope you are as happy with it as I am with mine. I really think that dealers ar able to do much more than they let be known, and when they see someone truly interested in a purchase and not just fact finding - you get what you want, and a much better deal than you think you can.

Funny story.......accidentally and didn't think he could do the deal part.

That's how I wound up with mine. Best move I made. Sure it will be for you too.

Gotta like a wife who lets you spend an extra 3k too.

Thumbs up New Truck

You'll like it lots. I've had mine just about 1 year now and have 15k mi. on it. The milage has gotten better in the last 3k mi. It's getting around 16 mpg commuting and on a road trip with combined interstate and mountan roads, last month (unloaded, three adults), 250 mi. was at 20.5 mpg. Pulling our 6k TT,Hwy.and Mountains, it's getting 13.5 mpg. I keep my speed at around 68-70 MPH on the Hwy, or under 2k RPMs
I waited over three years to get this truck and last Nov. my wife finnely said we could swing it money wise. Ordered it in early Nov. took delevery on the 23rd. of Dec. "Merry Christmas".
Break it in properly and you will be happy.
500 mi easy.
1000 mi. no load.
then hook it up to a load and work it hard from time to time.
I also use Stanadyne fuel treatment and think it helped. It is the only fuel treatment the My Dodge dealer sells.

Congratulations on the new ride. Funny how people accidentally fall into a new truck. Hope you have many safe and happy miles in it.
