Well I think I am about to become a member of the megacab club

Was just kinda window shopin today and found a couple of 06 carryovers. SLT 6 speed manual, chrome alloys, fog lamps, powers drivers seat, limited slip, 26 miles. Sticker is $41k and some change, got em down to $30k. Sound like a good deal? I was looking on ebay and most used 1's like it had a buy it now of 32-33k with 2k to 20k miles so it sounds ok but thought i'd run it by you guys.

well,
go for it if it is what you want and can afford it :-)
Price is *never* the reason to buy anyway right :-)
Meaning, that you should buy this pair of socks just cuz it's the cheapest around :-)
Anyway, yeah I know that for a fact there are a lot of people who drive 1st gens cuz they are the easiest to afford, however, there are those of us who chose these over any other regardless of our ability to afford newer models. :-)
I don't know though, just think it through. Think past the honeymoon stage, for what it is worth...

An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance. 1st gens are cool. I'll keep working on the performance part as I go along.

Don't forget the much higher insurance rate, taxes, cost of tags, ect...

I just can't fathom spending that much money on a vehicle.

Haha...I just happened to run across this thread and had to post.

DO IT!!!

I did the same thing and love the new one. That sounds like a smokin' deal too.

My '93 finally got put up for sale after some time. I really hate to see it go. It's the easiest vehicle to work on I've ever owned and you can't beat the dependability of a 1st Gen (the newer computers/electronics are far from flawless). Good luck to you and maybe I'll see you in the 3rd gen forums!

I was surprised that the '06 did smoke a little when stock.

Add a Smarty and I think it will out-smoke the '93!

Well, I was comparing my two trucks to each other, not to anyone else's. The 1st gen will smoke more before it spools, but once it's spooled there is almost no smoke. The 3rd gen with a Smarty will keep on smoking the whole time. I'm sure with a set of POD's the '93 would smoke more.

I'd rather mine didn't smoke at all, but I also want more power. Guess I'm stuffed.
