Hmm, When I posted the first time I still had my Cummins powered '03. It didn't have the problem. My '05 bites the weather strip when I open and close the door. I'll try the RV slider spray on them but I don't think it'll be enough to prevent damage. The doors on the '03 seemed to open away from the seal without trying to pull it off... I'll probably have to have the TSB performed on it.

Hannibal, lube spray won't work.

I sprayed mine with silicon and it still ripped.

The parts are in and I'm taking it in next Monday.

Just found mine yesterday. Noticed a considerable amount of wind noise coming in while going down the highway. The weatherstripping has about a 1/2" tear about 4" long on both the driver and passenger sides.

Guess its back to the dealer. For those of you that have had the TSB done, did you just have the service manager look at it some they could order the parts and then come back? Theres no way Im leaving my truck tehre for a week waiting for parts.

I dropped in so the Service Manager could look at and order parts, then they called about 3 weeks later when they had them.

Dealer update:

Just got the truck back and it's fixed.

They installed the new style weather stripping but still needed to twaek the door adjustment to eliminate any rubbing when the door swings oopen and closed.

Now the door completely clears the stripping on both the driver and passenger sides and I have no more complaints on this issue ( as long as it looks OK when I do a closer examination tomorrow ).

I have to say my dealer has been very responsive to everything I've asked for.

Best dealer I've ever dealt with.

Herb Chambers in Danvers, Ma.

Very professional operation, I give them an A+.

The new part number for the seals the dealer just installed on my truck are are different.

Mine was: 55275616-AC

PThree's numbers were:

55277190-AA for the right side and
55277191-AA for the left.

The dealer told me the 55275616-AC part number has superceded the numbers PThree put up and are the latest avaiaable.

But I don't trust it. For one thing the 55275616 number is lower.

The part I got has a different shape, looks like it'd be easier to divert more water away from the door.

But, they still had to re-adjust the doors to keep them from rubbing the new seal.

Do me a favor and call your dealer and ask them what the most recent part number is and post it here.

I'm interested in what they say.

We can keep them honest!

Thanks alot,

DT.

Not a stupid question if you don't know the answer!! TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. My 2004.5 quad has the seal tear as well at 22,000 miles. 1/2" x 2". You can hear the seal squeaking on the door corner as you open/close the door.
