Wash Those Seats
I took the seat material off my seats & put them in the washer. I read someone else on here had done it & it REALLY works . It's cheap & takes about 5 min. to take out & 5 min. to reinstall. SAY NO TO STAINED SEATS!! HTH !!!!!!!

What did you set the washer on (cold or hot water), and did you dry them in the dryer or let them hang dry. I would like to wash mine, but am scared of shrinking them. Also, did you take the plastic clips off of the covers (if they can even be removed)?
Thanks, Mathew

I have dial-up internet connection so pic's are a no go. Wash on cold, hang dry & the clips don't come off. When you get all the clips undone, there is velcro holding the cover down on the top of the seat so pull it off SLOWLY. Othe rthan that, it's a piece of cake. JUST DO IT & you won't regret it.

my seats have been in my truck for 3 years and there isn't a speck of dirt on them. I love my truck too much to let any dirt get on those seats.

I just bought four large black towels at walmart and keep them on the seats. One will cover the back and bottom of a front seat. Cut two small holes in them and put the headrest through them to hold them up. They get dirty, take off the headrest, then throw them in the washer.

do you have to wash all at the same time? reason i ask is my passenger seat is the only one with a stain. i was wondering if washing them makes them discolored from the others.

You will get lots of advice about when to wash the seats. Most pro Detailers find that a shampoo once a year does wonders to the value and looks of any vehicle. I am not a Pro-Detailer, but I would only wash the seats once a year or maybe every other year. Just be admin about attacking the stains while they are still fresh and you should have no problems.

Well I just got a weed up my to take the factory seat covers off and wash them. I was actually surprised how easy it was and how good they look now I didn't think they were that dirty but holy crap....some serious funk came out of them.
Anyway, like I said it's pretty easy. My advice is to do the passenger seat first (at least it was true in my case because I have a power driver seat and a manual passenger seat) I just took off the four nuts (1/2" deep well socket with a very short extension works best) that held on the passenger seat and removed the whole thing. It's much easier to do with the entire seat on the garage floor. No pics necessary, just pull out the seat flip it over and it becomes painfully obvious. The seat back cover is a bit tricky at first but just start on one end and it comes apart pretty quickly (put it back together the same way). I did the drivers seat in the truck which was a bit annoying which is why I pulled passenger seat out.
I washed them on warm/cold and dried them in the dryer (very LOW heat). They came out great and it only takes about 10-15 minutes for each side to remove them and about the same to put them back in.

After you put them back in , spray a light coat of spray starch over them and let dry. Or if you want to pay the extra you can spray them with scotchgaurd.
Either will help prevent them from letting stains "set" in the covers
