Warranty Stories

Am I the only one that thinks warranty coverage has been severely degraded in the last few years? I guess $40k+ for a vehicle is not enough money for them. Two days after I drove my truck off of the lot, my rear splash guard fell off. I was very suprised to receive a bill for $32 dollars for a new one. Warranty does not cover loose or missing parts. Needless to say, I had a little chat with my salesman and got it paid for. Thisa is my first new truck in 8 years, and never had an issue before with "bumper to bumper" coverage. Anybody else out there have a good story, so I can feel better about my investment.

relax. how old are you?

i am thinking the world has gone DOWNHILL since last time you bought a truck.

folks now just don't think like we do.

it's not JUST dodge, it's every manufacturer in the world.

blame NAFTA, mexico, china, ragheads, whatever,
prices go down, profit margins decrease, they gotta cut losses somewhere.

and most folks today are so soft they won't push the issue, so we have to stand up for ourself to get our stuff fixed

i think you will be ok now that they know you are not gonna let them roll over you.

enjoy - and welcome to the forum, and don't get forget, we ALL get on here to "whine" but in the end, we all pretty much get great service from these trucks, but it REALLY kills you to have silly stuff happen.

have you gotten the P0514 codes yet? cycle key 3 times, shows you the code, code is for "it's too cold for a truck this tough to sit outside"

TSB 18-005-06 and 18-006-06 will fix it

I believe a "splash guard" would have been dealer installed. I don't recall seeing any factory ones.

The reason I wanted to hear from other people started when I read the thread about the 06's tripping relays for trailer lights, and the dealer charging to reset the module. I think customer service has gone down hill. No one wants to go the extra mile anymore. I had the crank sensor go out, and crawled under it to see where it was. I noticed the tech there poked holes in the wires, rather than back probe the connector to test the component. Thats what happens at flat rate shops everywhere. Sorry if it seems like i am whining, but I bought my truck in hopes it will last more than the loan for it.

I've had a driver's side visor replaced, a yoke at the tranny which they replaced in an attempt to eliminate the bit of oil that gets sprayed around the bottom of the truck (less oil but not eliminated), and the 'great passenger side water leak escapade'. I noticed a bit of water on the passenger side at about 35k miles, took it in, they kept it a day and said that it was fixed. We went thru this about four times before they finally got fixed, where they had to take out all of the flooring to find the leak, which was evidently some seams on the front of the truck which didn't leak with a hose, you needed to be driving and forcing water/wind into the seams. By the time they got it fixed it was out the bumper to bumper, but it was all no charge.

The only complaint is one that Dodge has a policy on, but of course I think they should cover anyway :^), some porosity in one of the their alloy wheels that I bought used which ends up loosing about a pound of air every two or three days. It's their wheel, obviously a manufacturing defect, but they don't honor warranty unless it comes on the truck.

In summary they've honored their warranty in my case, even when the fix extended beyond the 36k miles.
