That is completely up to you. Personally, I'd run factory steering until it breaks. If you are looking to spend money that's burning a hole in your pocket, then upgrade.

With the upgraded Mopar Steering kit.....you will have to replace the pitman arm and steering damper.
As far as shocks, track bar, coils etc....you can buy that from KORE, Carli, Lorenz or Thuren etc.
The steering kit is not an aftermarket item, I don't think.
When I upgraded mine recently, I installed KORE 3'' coils (removed HBS 2'' leveling kit), new end links, hubs, Dynatrac ball joints, Bilstein Shocks and Steering Damper.
Here is my 04.5 steering vs. the 08.5+ steering.

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
TxCTD you're correct. The steering linkage is not aftermarket. All Mopar. Thurens stuff is a crossover setup.
I put the AF and new pitman arm on my truck after an outer tie rod blew out on my stock linkage.

EVERYONE with a pre-'08 truck should be installing the '08 linkage. It's a better design and it's stronger. Also important is fixing the track bar by either replacing it or installing better bushings in the stock one.

Well it did improve it, but remember I did a bunch of different things at once. I did new KORE coils, Maxx Suspension end links, 08.5 Mopar steering kit, Bilstein shocks, Dynatrac balljoints, Precision hubs, H2 wheels with new 315/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac tires, and got the front end aligned. So, naturally, it feels like a whole different truck. My track bar already had Lazarsmith off-set bushings so I didn't touch that.
So far so good. It feels and drives great, but I only have about 1000 or 1500 miles or so on it since the upgrades. 141K on the truck.

You can get the upgraded tie rod kit from any dealer and some aftermarket places too. Prices vary from around $400-500. I still have the stock track bar but with Lazarsmith off-set bushings to make up for the front lift. I used to have hell bent steel 2'' pucks but swapped them out for the 3'' KORE coil spring level kit.
I would love to add some new longer control arms, to really fix the geometry of the front end.....but it's doing fine for now. The alignment shop said it was good.

Thanks for the info. I've got the same KORE coil springs up front and I wish I had some longer control arms. The axle sits about an inch or inch and half too far back. Do you know of anyone who makes some good ones that aren't crazy expensive like the KORE ones.
