I could probably get by with a half ton myself but I'm just one of those guys that prefers diesel power over gas power.

Not everyone needs to pull a heavy trailer. Some guys never haul more than an ATV , alittle lumber for the weekend home improvement project, or stuff for a weekend camping trip. I think a one ton is overkill in those cases.

I'd rather drive a one-ton beast and get 14 MPG city / 20 highway, than a 1/2 ton weakling and get 13 MPG city / 16 highway

Have to say - while it's tempting to go for it at 50% off, if you're two payments away, with this economy situation, with the 6.7L's emissions equipments, and the resale value of your '06 - I must encourage you to pay off your truck, drive & enjoy it!

I agree, I don't regret buying my 06 new even if you can get a better deal now. I wanted the 5.9 and got all the incentives too. The price was very good at the time and it does exactly what I bought it for. It still hasn't hit even 20K miles and it will be paid off in just a few months at 0%. I'm sure I'll still have it for many years to come so resale is kind of meaningless to me.

I just called Landers/McCarty Dodge and talked to a salesman; he said he could do $39,000 before tax on a $46910 truck. Who did you talk to? Obviously the guy I talked to doesn't know that these trucks aren't selling too well!

These guys are idiots...they need to sell trucks while the dealerships are still open. My buddy and I argued for an hour on whether these yukko's should be bailed out. Who knows. Dealerships have been ripping people off for ages.

Its funny driving by the dodge dealership and seeing all of the truck with 40-50% off on the windows. They have a lot full of them that don't seem to be moving. I'm happy with my 05 with 40,000 miles. I wouldn't trade it for a new one.

As fuel gets cheaper, value will be restored!
Diesel here in NC is at $2.89/gal and 87 octane is at $1.89.
It's only a matter of time till everyone starts buying Expeditions and other large vehicles again and their prices will be on the rise.
We didn't learn from the 70's oil embargo and we haven't gotten any smarter since.
My truck's as valuable to me as the day I bought it!
