Question TSBs and a vehicle under warranty.

OK, I am looking to have the weather strip/drip rail and the white smoke TSBs done. I checked twice and my engine falls in to the parameters for the reflash. My drivers side door has the tear in the seal, but not much on the passenger side.

If the vehicle/truck is still under warranty (4400 miles on the clock, one year old), aren't all TSBs warranty items?

I called the dealer today to schedule this, and the service writer was talking about "TSBs are just that, bulletins, but they aren't free".

Now I would understand if the truck was out of warranty, but it's not. Who is right here?

It and them(TSB's) are under warranty at 4,400 miles.Service writer sprouting off at the mouth.At 44,000 miles those TSB's you mentioned would not be warranty etc.

technically tsb aren't under warranty, what you have to do is read the tsb, then go in & complain about the problem. i.e. don't tell them " I'm here for the door seal tsb" just go in & say "my door seal is ripped, it's under warranty & I want it replaced" same with the other, just tell them lots of white smoke on start up. then if they look confused show them the tsb's. note: some dealers won't replace the door seal if it is just worn down, actually has to be torn, but thats not hard to do in the parking lot (so I've heard)

The people whom handle it that way are JERKS. If a customer told me about a TSB fine.I knew how to write it up.Sometimes we just went through a vehicle and DID TSBS on items customers had NO clue about until hey picked it up or I(we)told them.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty

In my eyes that makes it exactly a warranty item.

Yes....if your truck is still under warranty, which it is, so go get it fixed!

Thumbs up TSBs Completed!!

As an update to this thread, I had both of these TSBs completed today.

I went in and split the difference on this. I told the service writer that when I was up in Big Bear that I had lots of white smoke on start up. Also told him that the drivers side door seal was torn.

Then, I left the print out of both TSBs on the center armrest when I left the truck.

I went back this afternoon and the ECM flash and the door seal TSBs had been completed. The replaced both the door seals even though the passenger side hadn't even started to wear yet.

I am sure that this dealership will be glad when I leave town. The only thing they have had a chance to do on this truck is warranty work. They haven't made a cent from me, but I am sure DC has been paying them.

They get a 40% markup on parts over cost.the total labor claim on door seals and Flash up date was probably close to 2.0 hours at the $90.00 a hour or what not.Tech got his 2.0 at whatever he makes per hour($15.00 to $20.00) They do warranty work to MAKE money.Service writer even gets a piece of the claim.

You are way off! The door seals are about 12 minutes,and the flash is about 48 minutes. . Yes the dealer makes money,no the tech makes very little.

Well BOB,techs don't get paid actual time.The seals and flash have seperate labor opps.Techs worth their salt make good money doing warrantry.They know the score when they work for a dealer.Don't mean to sound smart but don't tell me I'm way off.I retired 2 years ago from 25 plus YEARS of being a tech/service writer/shop foreman/warranty booker/dispatcher/service manager in auto dealers.NISSAN/G.M./Mazda/Isuzu/D.C..I know very well thank you how the system works and about what warranty labor times pay techs and they make GOOD money doing warranty if they KNOW what their doing.Probably better then most who post on this site.

0.2 per door I would assume.Then the tech got 1.2 hours at lets say 17.00 per hour.(thats being conseritive)$20.40 for that work.Plus uniforms or part of and workmans comp and insurance at a group rate.He proberly does better in some ways then the parts man,service writer etc.
