TSB for door weather stripping

Found a TSB for the weather stripping at the bottom of the doors for 04 trucks on genosgarage.com site. The new stripping would prevent water and dirt to collect in the door jam causing clothes to get dirty and dirt in the cab. Called my dealer and he told me that due to my 3 year 36 bumper to bumper was used up, it would cost approx $75 labor plus parts!!!! I told him thanks but no thanks.

Went to Advanced Discount Auto Parts. Bought 3 bags of generic weather stripping ($21) and rigged up my own. Time will tell if it works well.

thought you all might want to know.

I wonder if this applies to the 05s yet, because I haven't seen it listed as a TSB. I have less than 2K on my truck and the trim is already starting to tear....

Where exactly does the door seal start to rip? I have 2600 on my 2005 and see no signs of ripping yet. Though I do wipe down the insides of the doors and wipe out the bottom seal along the door. That gets dirty pretty fast. I do this wipe down thing about once a week.

I hate new trucks. They look so nice from the factory that I just keep wiping the stuff down to try and keep it looking good. Time will time when I stop doing that.

Thanks.

jmac------ I think i would question the dealer saying that warranty would not cover it, the tsb was dated jan. 31/05, so you get penalized because they were slow to react to a problem, on second thought that sounds about right

The whole thing with TSB's is that they want you to come in and complain about it first before they will do anything. Espeically if it's covered under warrenty, believe me they don't have a problem telling you how much it cost when your warrenty is expired!!
I had my truck in the shop yesterday for that TSB, they came back and said because it requires the door to be drilled (I knew this) they were going to set me up with a local body shop as they did not have the correct tool for the job and did not feel comfortable drilling in my truck's doors and possibly meesing it up. I told the Service writer thank for being honest as I am a stickler about my truck. Here is a perfect example, had the wifes Audi in the shop two weeks ago for the 30k maint. They had it for 2 days only for me to have to tell them when I started the car up before leaving it sorta stumbles. Service write said, wait I think there is a TSB on that problem. It was and it caused the car to be in the shop for another 2 days. Off in the loaner I went again.
