here are a couple of different links might help I have installed mine in the service port above pan as in the first link its not even moving dont know if a gauge problem or if its just not getting hot enough been pretty cold lately and havent done any real driving yet. I am currently waiting on parts to build the hot tranny line in the second link.

I used the Autometer dash mount guage pod also. It sure is nice to see your guages without glancing up from the road!
I opted for the in the pan temperature probe for the Transmission sender and got a PML extra capacity trans pan to ensure adequate cooling.

I'm only 1/2 year late....but I installed a brass T that I bought from Napa in the tranny hot line. Cost was around $10. Hassle factor was a little high. It initially leaked because I cut too much out of the hot line and ended up with the compression fittings too close to the bends where the hot line wasn't perfectly round.
While the hot line was out of the truck, I shoved plastic sandwich bags into the dripping tranny holes using 1/8" bolts.

I can highly recommend the replacement line with T fitting from Diesel Manor. It's a little more expensive $70 but built extremely well and has not leaked. I was surprised at how little trans fluid I lost while installing.
If you can install the fitting yourself, it's going to be considable less expensive. The one I used is not just your everyday compression fittting.
Just like pyro there are a lot of opinions as to where to locate sensor. For me, I want to measure at the place where fluid is most hot.
