Towing mirror replacement
Greetings-
I was out deer hunting this weekend and while going down a narrow dirt road, some clown in a big hurry came up past me a whacked my mirror. No, he didn't stop.
My plastic mirror did not survive the impact with his metal one. Any ideas how much the replacement will cost? The glass and the motors are fine. The plastic parts are toast.
TIA,
100 Proof

Sorry to hear about the mishap. As for the mirrors, I don't believe that the plastic housings can be purchased seperately from the glass/motor assembly. As for cost, I know that the dealer prices are quite steep. However, every once in a while you will see somebody selling a set on Ebay at fairly reasonable prices.

Just called the dealer. They want "only" $352 for the replacement.
Next call: insurance agent.

Might look around online. I found this place that had BOTH sides for $300.

Why do you say that is both sides? They don't say so I'd bet it's the price for EACH.
I think I used mopar4less.com to order one for at $270 plus shipping. Best price I've found.

Try this web site http://store.yahoo.com/performancedodge/.
Yes they do cost alot $345 for the pair, that's the full power with heat.
As stated earlier try E-bay, sometimes they have some there, just make sure they are for the 02 1500 or 03/04 models. ;D

Re:Towing mirror replacement
From the link I posted w/ bold added:
"They feature premium-quality glass on a sturdy steel mount to help insure stable, vibration-free reflections. 7.5"x10" (power), left and right morrors, factory mirrors must be removed, power control and defrost functions remain active.
Just thought it might be worth a call to a mail order place like this. I've found that for some parts they can be as much as 1/2 off dealer prices.
