I have a 2003 2500 and i am curious if any of yall know if the 4th gen tow mirrors fit on a 3rd gen door?? Any help is appreciated.

I remember reading a thread somewhere that the 4th gen mirrors do not fit.

The simpple answer to your question is that they are NOT a simple plug n' play option, but that it CAN be done--

At the very least you will need to redrill the door for slightly different bolt locations, rewire the male/female plugs that are different betwenn the years and also splice wires in to acheieve the additional lighting functions of the newer mirrors that the older mirrors don't have.

IMO, MORE importantly, they use a slightly different shape and diameter plastic, triangulur mounting bezel that will NOT excactly match your doors profile where the 3rd gen mirrors are.... there will be a slight gap somewhere, BUT the one person I have talked to that has just done it swears the gap is NOT dysfunctional or even very visible, but he has NOT yet posted a close-up pic of his work!!!

Old thread, but I recently came across lighted tow mirrors similar to the 4th gen but with the 3rd gen glass and styling. Looks awesome. Has anyone installed these on their truck? Anyone use this brand before? I've heard aftermarket mirrors are much cheaper than OEM for a reason ie. poor build quality.

First time I have seen those. They look nice but I don't want to be the Guinea pig testing their quality.

The 1a mirrors were def getting pretty good reviews on cumminsforum, certainly much better then other aftermarket mirrors. Very little vibrations, etc. That being said,their DID ended up being some issues with the motorized fold version due to issues with the motor, but at least they recognized the problem and then pulled stock instead of keeping on selling them. From the feedback, I'd say it would be worth the expense. Here are some reviews--

Also, at least on CF, one of 1aAutoParts reps is an active member and I can say that he has responded quickly and fairly to inquires and any problems with the mirrors…so +1 for solid customer support. His name is 1ATony
