Tow mirror glass replacement

Tow mirror glass replacement
I broke the glass only on my passenger mirror. Ordered the replacement and it looks like it is the glass only, and not the backing/mounting piece. Are there any tricks/concerns for replacing the glass only? It looks like I just need to pry the old glass from the backing and reglue the new right? Is the backing easily breakable? What kind of glue should I be using?

well the one I did was a non heated on an 01 but it was easy as cake, just knock out old glass clean surface with some good cleaner such as windex or I used brake cleaner, let that dry and heated the surface little bit to ensure stick pads where stuck good, peeled of covers on them and stuck on mirror, the back part isn't that delicate just don't go using gorillia force on it. Not for sure but id say that your replacement comes with double sided stick pads just like the non heated one did.

I recommend using glue too. I never did trust the sticky pads. I know they usually work, but it doesn't seem like much to hold the whole glass in. You can get a small tube of it at a parts store.

Check with a local glass company. I have a busted mirror that needs replacing and the glass company will install it for free. it's heated and runs about $80 if I recall. I keep forgetting about stopping by and getting it done until I look over into it and see 6 identical cars behind me.
