Torn carpet in '06

OK, on the drivers side floorboard, there is a little black hook formed into the carpet. This hook is what the floor mat hooks into to keep it from riding forward. I noticed one day last week when I got into the truck, the floormat slid forward when I got in and popped the floormat out of the hook. I did not think anything of it, just placed the floormat back over the hook.

Today I get in the truck and the same thing happens, only this time I hear a tear. I figured the hole tore out of the floormat and when I looked it was OK. Looked at the hook and it was ripped halfway out of the carpet and tore the carpet also.

Got to examining why this was happening and discovered that the floormats have the little cleats on the underside to hold them down in the carpet, but when I picked the truck up new from the dealer last month, some moron left a plastic sheet in the floorboard and sat the mat on top of the plastic, thus the sliding problem.

Now what should I do? Is this a warranty thing or do I just have a hole in my one month old carpet to live with?

I would take it to the dealer and explain what happened. I see no reason why they wouldn't fix it.

I just went out and looked at it again to see how bad it was and noticed that the plastic sheeting is factory installed and has in big bold black letters: PROCTECTIVE COVER - DEALER REMOVE BEFORE DELIVERY.

They just threw the matts in on top of this plastic cover and the little cleats on the matt could not bite into the carpet, so I say this fix is on their dime. I left the plastic cover in place which is still attached underneath the side panel moldings from the factory as evidence.
