took it up the ! at my dodge dealer
i was shocked when i priced a mega cab today at the dodge dealer where i have bought 2 new diesel2500 series 4X4s trucks since dec of 01, bought 1 that they brought in and ordered a laramie quad cab in 04,. looked at a slt mega cab 4x4 diesel 3500 auto black with very few options i priced trading my truck the previously mentioned truck with 60k,( rhino lining, tonneau cover running boards mud flaps rain guards on the windows, expensive floor mats front and rear suspension air bags, and bug guards no scratches ) they gave me three thousand in rebates, msrp at 46,185 and told me my truck and 16,200 dollars i asked if i bend over now or when they wake up from dream land nada and kelly blue say my truck should trade in for 27k the way i look at it is this Msrp 46,185 - rebate of 3,000 = 43,185 less my truck at 26,985= i owe dodge 16,200 plus 6%sales tax please let me know how anyone else has done

Never deal with MSRP.....that's for people who walk on the lot and don't know any better. Only deal with Invoice. You can get the invoice price from several internet sites. http://www.kbb.com is one of them.
Second, rebates come from DC not the dealer so don't factor those into the price when negotiating with the dealer.
Third, if you want the most money for your old truck sell it yourself. Once you start dealing with #1 and #2 above your trade-in value will go down accordingly.
Every dealer wants to move vehicles. Send out a few emails or letters to the sales manager at nearby dealers detailing what options you want and what you want to pay. At least 1 will come back and say, "OK." Negotiating on the lot or in some cubicle is a big mistake.

Trade In
The whole purpose is for them to make money. They only gave me 8,000 for my S-10. Nice truck and it had to go, since the new truck was there. A day later I see it at the store, guy bought it that night. They know how to deal.
I agree 100% with the internet thing, tell them what you want, what your gonna spend, and they will all want your offer. That's how I made mine. I told every dealer whoever would give me the truck at invoice price had the deal. One responded, showed up with a thing from our work that says they will offer 1% under invoice and bought it. Oh yeah I got the deal (that's after all the rebates were taken off the truck too) Truck was around 46,000 and I got it for 36,000. Works for me.
Still miss the ole V-10 ram though, it was fast.

You guys are reading it wrong. They're giving him 27K for his truck and saying that he will still need to give 16.2K to make the deal .... he gave us the bottom numbers to show what they were giving him now maybe I'm confused but it wouldn't be the first time.
I agree that you'll do much better selling it yourself ... the dealer will never give you a good trade-in value.
Just my thoughts ...

I don't think there is anything wrong with it myself. I put it in one of my posts in the past and it was edited almost immediately. Maybe this one snuck past their noses. It doesn't bother me either way.
Merry Christmas everyone!
