Tire Recommendation to "fill wheel well"

I'm looking for a tire that will meet the following criteria

1. Retain smooth ride
2. Not cause any issues with balancing or front end
3. Good for 90% on road and towing
4. Fill wheel wells.

TIA

4wheel parts has a new size listed for BFG AT KOs-305/65/17E. I will be getting this size when my 285/70/17D BFGs are done.

I am very happy with my BFG AT 285/70/17 tires. IMO, they are a great compromise between the stocker (to small) 265's and the (to big) 315's.

Some members on this board have complained of the 315's rubbing, possibly contributing or aggravating "death wobble", and robbing some power from the performance.

The new tires Surfram mentioned might be an option though. But I don't recall anybody ever badmouthing the 285 BFGs. Pix in my gallery with 285s.

A 265-70/17 is probably about as big as you want to go if you ever need to mount chains.

Those 285's look about perfect for the truck if you are not planning any lift or leveling. Now I have to see if Mama will let me spend a little more loot for new tires on a new truck. Once it comes in that is. Scotty

RN, you need to change the front shocks too?
I'm going through the same dilemma, bigger tires are quite the expense after just buying the truck (and wants some A-pilar guges); add to that the price of a levelling kit, price of shocks. Then if you change the front shocks of course you should do the backs, maybe the 305's are a good compromise¿
Anyone know if the 305's rub without levelling??

Surfram,

Can you provide the link to the 305/65/17E's?? I looked on 4 wheel parts website and couldn't find them.

...and I checked the BFG site, not listed there either, only for 16" wheels.
Funny though, they make 267, 278, 285, 295, 305 and 315 for the 16's, maybe it';s only a matter of time for more 17's?

I run the 315 BFG on hummer wheels and I think they fit perfect. I don't have the leveling kit and have yet to rub. I recently got back from a week long camping trip pulling our 6500 lb. trailer down around the Nashville area and only had to take it out of 6th once for a hill (there was a semi in the way and I could not pass) There was so much power, even with the 315's, I didn't know what to do with myself. (1st towing trip ) I even averaged around 11.5 mpg.

The new sizes were listed in the newest 4wheel parts magazine. I guess the websites have not been updated yet.

They look goog on your truck Guardrail, I really don't think I want to change my wheels though, got some other things to do as well. (Hummer is the brand or are they wheels off a Hummer?)

I'll get the tire guy to check if the 305's are out up here in BC yet...

Anyone know muck about Cooper ATR's?

They are take-offs from a Hummer (the only good thing I've found about a Hummer ). Do a search on hummer wheels on this site and you will see lots of guys that have done it. You can pick up a set of take-off with the wheels included for less than the price of the tires. There is a little modification work that has to be done, but a good machine shop should be able to do it for less than $100. All told, I have about $800 in the wheels and tires.
