I have had BFGs Goodyear's Nittos and Toyo mud and A/Ts and the main reason to run a lower pressure (besides ride) is that IN MOST CASES i find the rears will not get as good of a foot print when running mostly empty. they tend to bounce over things.

there needs to be some flexibility in the side walls for the tread to follow the ground over small bumps ETC. also most tires will wear more in the center of the tread with high psi and no weight on them.

if in doubt check two things. 1. get a tread depth Gage and check the center tread depth of the stock BFGs it is usually 2-3/32 less. 2. fill tires up to max and then floor it and it will be much easier to get them to squeal on dry or spin on wet ground than with lower pressures because of less foot print on the ground.

The manual says 45 front and 40 rear, I don't see what's wrong with that.

These folks at 80 psi wonder why their balljoints go out, rattles develop and they skid all over in rain and snow!

I'm tired of hearin about it......................

Do what I did, Drive an 1987 Ford F-150 (base model)for 19 years then buy a 03 Dodge,I can say my 3500 rides like a caddy.

I personaly think the ride and seats are great,no complaints unless the Dodge does not last for the next 15 years.

I run 80psi all the way around but I do tow heavy if I ran what the manual said I would have to carry A LOT of spares!

Also if you read the manual it all depends on weight AND speed.

What I get tired of hearing about is people wanting their 4WD's with cummins to ride like a car Buy a Toyota if you want a car like ride.....

Cool

According to the Trie Presure Guide that came with my truck, it's in the glove box, if riding empty them 40 in the rears and 55 in the front is just fine. I run 60 front and 50-60 in the rear due to the aux fuel tank.

When towing 65 front and 75 rear per the guide, the ride is just fine.

Stock specs are for stock tires. Tire pressures should go by recommended tire manufacturer specs. They will all want them up near max psi, since that's where they are designed to run. Besided, you can allways take air out of them if you need to, but not put it back in as easily if you find something random to tow.
