Thanks for a good laugh Diesel-Dude!!! Glad to hear it is done. Except for the price of fuel, you will love to fill up now. For me it was 2 extra clicks and I had liquid in the filler neck

I have removed my tank a couple of times but now I just remove the bed. 6 bolts and a couple of straps and it is off and then everything is MUCH easier to get to on the gas tank.
I learned that one from 53willys. It is a great way to do it as long as you have a hoist to lift the bed. Otherwise pay your 12 year old to get their hands dirty.
Good luck!!!!

When I did the mod on both my truck and son's truck we removed the rear drive shaft, lowered tank about 2" had enough room and easier to disconnect lines. His truck took longer to do because learning curve. My was half the time because we fiquired out some of the short cuts.

I left the DS in but did start to drop the tank a little to make it easier to get to. Just remember to pull the little red clip to the side FIRST or you will never get the plug off.

Just got back from our trip to Florida. The tank vent mod worked great, but the tank still isn't big enough as the "cheapest" fuel we found was in our home town! Still, I can't complain about the range I now have. We made it from the south side of Atlanta, GA to Columbus, OH, including a 100 mile, 35mph in 5th gear jaunt on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Smokey Mountains before the idiot light came on. That's 789 miles! I made it a point to keep our speed at or below 65 and I didn't use the cruise control. By the time we made it to a suitable fuel station, there was 807.8 miles on the clock and the DTE display was calling ME the idiot. Took 37.6 gallons to fill 'er back up to the brim. That's 21.48 MPG in an 8,000 4x4 truck with 4.10 gearing traveling through the "mountains" (sorry, the real mountains are about 1400 miles west of here). I love my triple-nickle Cummins. BTW, the overhead read 24.2 for the trip...I wish!

Awesome!!
That extra few gallons does make a difference. Now you need to install an auxilliary tank for the next trips. Helps to get better "deals" when you can find a some what cheap price on diesel.

I've thought about it, but those tanks are a bit on the pricey side. Especially the ones that are DOT approved here in Ohio. Geez, can you imagine paying the tab on 140 gallons of diesel @ nearly $5.00 a gallon? I don't know how the truck drivers do it.
