$20 hitching rods from Camping world will take care of that. One rod on the trailer, one on the ball. Back up until one rod gets knocked off - lower the trailer.

I had those - they work fine unless you hit a bump or the wind blows.

There are two different ways to get the spoilers. One is just the spoiler and the other way is a kit that includes the mounting hardware.

Tailgate bent

Last night while hooking up the 5th wheel the camper dropped on the tailgate. I have to say that is one strong tailgate to hold a 36 foot trailer. Needless to say the tailgate got a little bent. It is not too bad. I was thinking about getting a spoiler to cover the dent. I do not have pictures yet but the dent it not too bad but it bowed the tailgate a little. The handle works fine but popped out a little. To fix this I was thinking a crome cover. I have a spray in bed liner. You can tell I am trying to avoid the body shop. I could just do nothing but it is a brand new truck and camper. Do you think it will work? Thanks.

You could give it a shot. You could probably go to a local truck bling shop and try one on for size without buying.

I would keep my eye out for a used tail gate to replace the one you have as a long term solution.

I installed a tailgate spoiler over both the sprayed liner and the factory tailgate liner on the '05 for durability... they're dirt cheap, function well and look great.

Why not?

I just installed the spoiler with the 4 piece folding tonneau and it works perfectly.

I had a bedliner, but had to cut the bedliner on the top of the tailgate to be able to make the spoiler and the tonneau fit ok. And worked fine, tonneau locks the tailgate and spoiler looks very good.

Will post pic later to show.

Talk to your Dodge dealer or local campershell sales place. When installing a bed cover the "tailgate spoiler" has to com off. They may have one laying around. That's where mine came from. Looks great...easy to close the tailgate.

I guess it depends on the bed cover. Some may require the spoiler to come off, some don't.

I installed one last night over my bent tailgate. It went on very easily (over spray in liner and under tonno cover). There is a slight gap on the inside where the the tailgate bowed. It looks a lot better. The only issue I see is if I move dirt or mulch getting stuck in the gap. Still A LOT cheaper than going to a body shop.

Tailgate spoiler installed with 4 piece folding tonneau cover:

Fits good, keylock on the tonneau works fine and no water gets in.
