Stupid question

Which way does the transfer case skid plate go? I think I may have put it on backwards after the 30k trans service.

No one else has the skid plate, I guess. So if you could just take a look and let me know if the up-turned side goes forward or backward, that would be awsome. Thanks!!

I don't have one but everyone I've ever seen has the upturned end forward.
Hope that helps.

I'm sure it turns up on the front like my '02 does. That way it catches all the mud and rocks off the road and they sit in there and wear on all the parts and add extra weight to the truck. You know, just how those jerks designed it.

On my '06 the side with the four dimples with holes in them goes to the front and the ends curl up when installed.

Thanks guys, I can't figure out why I thought it went the other way? I even looked at the rusty marks on the crossmembers when I put it back up, and matched them to the skid plate touchpoints. Maybe mine was on backwards from the facotry? (it couldn't have been my fault, you know)

That is so it doesn't catch if you are backing over the stump instead of pulling forward over the stump!?!?!?!?

Actually, that is so when the front tires fill it with mud from the front, the mud can't go on through and out the back!!! I love these designers. They are so dumb.

Interesting, so now I think I did put it up the way it came from the factory. Hmm, now we just need to see a consesus from 05 owners to see what the right way is??
