Stock steel wheel questions

I've searched but can't find the info I'm looking for.

I'm about to have my Michelin LTX tires replaced with stock (265/70/17) BFGs. I'm thinking I'd like to put the aluminum wheels somewhere safe in the garage and swap to black steel wheels.

Is the spare wheel the same as the stock steel wheels that I've seen on some other trucks? Is the stock steel wheel rated for the same load capacity as the aluminum wheels? Would there be any reason NOT to run the stock steels wheels? From what I understand, I'd just have to think about painting the plastic center-cap.

Also, how much does a stock steel wheel cost?

The black steel wheel used for the spare is the same as on the ST SRW trucks. Think they are 17"x7".

The black steel wheel (spare) is the same size as the steel chrome clad or alloys, 17x8 with same backspacing and offset.

Really? Do you know if they're rated for the same load capacity? If they are . . . I wonder if I could just order 4 of them from the local dealer and go with those.

Probably the same or better per wheel than the alum. ones. Weight rating will be stamped on it. Probably 4000# or better. I'll check on price and get back to you.

I am wrong again!

Ok, I was wrong on the black steel wheel spare size. I have a couple of them and I did measure the backspacing and offset. That measures about the same as my alloys, not sure how that is, but I checked the stamp just now on the one I have here and it is 17 x 7 1/2" width. I have another one that is not here right now I will check it tomorrow. The one here is the original spare wheel from my 04.5. The other one is from a new 07 3500 SRW.

Part # on the wheel is 52121325AA.

Looked up the part number on dodgeparts.com and got this info:

Part number 52121325AA was superceded by part number 52121325AB.

Item Number MSRP.... Core Price Price
52121325AB $179.00 $0.00 $139.10
Wheels - Wheels - Wheel steel
Code wf1 2006 - 2007

Guess it depends on what size tire you want to run, 285s/33 would be the biggest I would put on that size wheel.

I bought a set of factory chrome clad steelies for next to nothing, ripped the chrome piece off and painted them black. I like the look, other than dropping down to 35"s.

I called both the parts dept at my local dealership AND the Dodge customer assistance line.
Neither one of them could give me specs on the various wheels (i.e. load capacity).

I have the stock steel chrome wheels. It's a 17x8 wheel. I'd have to check for sure, but I'm not sure the spare (steel black) is the same size.

I looked today: my spare is a 17 x 7.5

Any thoughts as to why the "full-size" spare is narrower? I know the same size tire mounts up, but . . . . .

Also, I didn't see anything about load capacity stamped on the spare.

Guess I'll just have to look for someone selling some chrome-clad steelies.

I went to the base model steel wheels and they are the same as the spare,17x7.5, just painted the "argent" color.

I got them as take offs for $150 with center caps.

My "plastichrome" SLT steelies are for sale

The ones you have for sale are the 17" x 8", correct?
Do you have some pics?
What do you want for them?
