I landscape for a living somy hands are allways dirty, I drive a company truck all day but I drive mine to and from work so and after about 8-9 months of driving home filthy after a long day my wheel started to get nasty. Like most of yall I have never liked wheel covers makes the wheel to big and look trashy. After some web serching I found some made my Wheelskins, there a leather rap cover that you sew on. Took me dang near 2 hours to sew the thing on(I had to get it perfict) but I LOVE it just bought another for my dads truck. Didnt make the wheel that much bigger and its been holding strong for about 1.5 years. Here is there website http://www.wheelskins.com/index.php there charcoal matchs up great with are trucks.

Anybody have any idea on how much a new leather wrapped wheel from the dealer costs. Mine is doing the same thing and can't stand it. I'm scared to find out what a new one costs.

I had the steering wheel replaced on my '05 because the area that I normal hold was starting to show signs of deterioration. No problems with this one so far.
I do turn my wheel so the bottom is facing up when I park and use sun shades all the time. Like Stacked97 says the sun is brutal in the deep South.

Yesterday I noticed a mark on my steering wheel which was about 1/2 in. diameter with a very distrinctive ring around the edge. When I got to thinking about I realized it was probably from my steering wheel lock. I was snugging it up tight and what probably happened was that on a warm day the heat built up at the point of contact and marked the leather on the wheel. you can't really feel it but you can sure see the tarnished mark.
