Steering Wheel "CLICK"...Betcha haven't seen this problem yet! (VIDEO)

You think your steering is bad? First off, the amount of play is one thing. Now mix it with the most annoying "clicking" sound. SORRY for the Edit video, but this gives ya an idea what is goin' on.

Embedded it for ya. Sounds like your universal switch where the blinkers and wipers are, having problems with that or a gearbox problem???

...I appreciate you doing that. No problems there. Everytime the noise happens, I can also feel it in the wheel, almost like the wheel is cracked...? GEARBOX I would have to say is a little wore out though.

The cancelling cam or whatever? the part of the turn signal switch?

I would think youd be having quite a bit of slop in the steering if it were something with the box/shaft, but I would check those too JIC...

Kinda hard to tell, but I assume you weren't driving down a rutted dirt road on somebody's farm. That is awful. Definitely need some new parts in there somewhere. Steering box, shaft, maybe the track bar, etc. Just awful.

You should get somebody to turn your steering wheel while you get in front of your truck. Look at the driver side track bar mount and see if you see some play and hear a click or something like it's catching. Your track bar mount could be "wallowed" out.

In that case you might put in a larger bolt.

www.lazarsmith.com sells a kit called the "ultimate track bar hardware" you can install and cure that problem, if that is it.

If not, you might look at the steering shaft itself and maybe consider replacing it with a Borgeson (sp?) unit.

I would bet that it's something internal to the steering column (clock spring or FOD in the column).

Personally (and just a shade tree mech) I would not take that crap apart unless I was trained in air bag removal. Bite the bullet and take it to the dealer if it bothers you enough. If not, suck it up. You'll pay more in the long run if you are not educated in this particular setting.
