Steering stab. box install question
Will a deep socket (1-5/16") fit over the new shafted nut that goes on the pitman arm when installing a steering box stabilizer?
I think some guys use a big crescent but I don't have one. I do have a 24" 1/2" breaker bar that is gonna be my best use of force (need to grab a 1/2"-3/4" adapter to fit the socket).

I just put one of these kits on my 2008 2500 Megacab with an 8" lift and 37" tires...best aftermarket product I ever put on this thing to cure the death wobble Now its a breeze to drive. Took me 30 minutes to put on.

papaduck, for the BE wrench, was that a 6pt or 12pt? Were you able to get to 185ftlbs?
I read somewhere that there was a trick to getting the nut to torque. Something like go 1/4 turn past 40ftlbs. Anyone heard something like this? If accurate that takes care of the need to get a torque wrench on there (thus eliminating the need for a socket)
Once my order gets here I'll take the nut with me around to a few shops and see if I can find a deep socket that might fit. If not the option I think would work fine is the box end wrench (that I'd chop the OE off so a pipe would fit the entire length and not just one sharp edge along the shank where the big pipe ends). My concern is putting a cheater pipe on the wrench to get to 185ftlbs will likely break it. I'm hesitant to use an open end wrench.
Anyway, just brainstorming. I'm finding these days I'm getting more interested in the tools to do the projects as much as the projects themselves

The length of both wrenches was about 3 ft. I estamited the pull at 60 lbs. thus 180 ft/lb at the nut. I used the wrenches at work and do not remember if it was a 6 or 12 point, but I think it was a 12 point. These were big wrenches and had a lifetime warranty and I did not even think that they might break.

Well the new shafted nut is 1-1/4". The Dodge nut is ??? It is not 1-1/4" <-- too small. But 1-5/16" is a little big (grabbed a socket from Napa).
I'm thinking 33mm
Edit: I found an extra deep socket made by GP (GP-2040XD) that I'm going to order and try out for the new 1-1/4" shaft nut. I'm planning on renting a 33mm socket from Oreilly's. The guy said they did have that one. So, got a plan. That's cool I bought the CD unit on sale. I used the savings to buy the tools to install it

The new sector shaft nut doesn't want to thread I put the stock nut back on and came inside to pout.
Sent Custom Diesel an email. Hope to get it resolved soon. I was so excited to FINALLY have a little time to get this installed.
Anyone else have a problem of an incorrect thread pitch glitch?
Edit: the stock nut was no where near 185ftlbs when I removed it. Granted I used the 24" breaker bar, but the thing came right off without hardly any muscle applied. I thought of the threads I read where others said theirs was on only finger tight. Anyway, check yours just to be safe.

Alright - got the new nut in Thursday and got the stabilizer on this morning. It's good stuff. Test drive I can tell a bit of difference. There isnt that extra movement in the truck. Can't describe it but the cliched phrased 'tightened up the feel'.
Anyway nice product from Custom Diesel and super great customer service.
(the white splotches is antiseize...that stuff gets everywhere)
