Static Electricity
Anybody else get a static shock everytime they get out of their truck? Every single time I exit my truck I get shocked when I touch the door to close it....every single time.

I sure do. That's why I've made it part of my routine to grab the upper part of the door as I exit. It's actually part of my getting-out process. I'm still in contact with the seat at that point, and grabbing the door grounds me to the truck. That has achieved a 100% reduction in getting zapped! If you can "train" yourself to make that part of your exit, you'll never get shocked again.

...crazy, why does this happen? It never happened with my old truck and I'm guessing it to be because I had leather seats then and now I have cloth...it just drives me nutZ! Every single time, I get shocked. So, when you say, "grab the upper part of the door." What do you mean exactly? Like after you get out or while your still seated, you reach up and grab the door?

Yall are kidding right? It is winter (in most parts of the country) the air is drier. If you have cloth seats it is just like walking across a carpet floor or rubbing a ballon on your hair..You cant possibly believe this is a design flaw with dodge. Every car I own does this. I could go into what causes static electicty and its results and how to discharge or avoid it but it would be an hour long science discussion.

i get it almost every day now being winter... if it is dark outside and i am carful, i can get a nice 3/4" - 1" long blue spark... makes a loud crack too... in the daytime, you can't see it so well, but you sure can feel/hear it..

jimc11,
thanks, but I don't think its just being winter that causes this...I'm sure it contributes, but my wife's new dodge caravan has cloth seats too, and never causes the shock.
