Question Static Electricity ?

OK This is starting to annoy me!, Everytime I get out of my truck I get zapped! no kidding , wheather I am in the truck for 2 minutes or 2 hours. Anybody else have this problem? It has done it since new (took delivery 1-31-04) and it has 6600 miles on it already.
I,m starting to wonder if some ground is not right or something?
Anyone? I have the premium cloth if that makes a difference.

Mine did that for a while but only for the passenger. Ended up with a wire going to the windshield washer pump having problems. Got that fixed no more problem.

I also have premium cloth seats but I have not been shocked yet. Maybe it is your electric personality!

This shock can be big like 1/4 inch away before I touch it with a nice blue tint !
NO Joke.

There have been threads on this in the past. Mine did it a lot until I rubbed a one of those anti-static dryer sheets on the seats. When this wears off and it starts zapping you again, just repeat the process. Place the used dryer sheet under the seat and it keeps the truck smelling nice.
Another trick is to hold the door frame as you slide out. Or hold the ignition key tightly on the metallic part and touch it on one of the bolt heads near the door hinge after you get. (before touching anything else.)

OK Guys & Gals, here is the $5 fix for this problem. But first I must ask you if you have installed Nerf Bars or Running boards or somthing along that line
This is more of a problem if they are the type that attaches via removing the cab isolation bolts. It isolates not only the cab but also ground.

OK, back to the $5 fix, go to the nearest auto parts store and ask for a Static Strap and attach it to your frame so that it drags the ground and discharges the Static Electricity. Make sure that your running boards and or Nerf bars are also grounded to the truck frame

You could also upgrade to Leather seats

racebeeper68, I'm in your same general area (same weather) & haven't had one static shock yet....

Of course I've only had my truck 1 week & have leather seats!

I did get one small shock however.... when I found out my dealer had filled my 35 gallon tank for free, just prior to delivery!!!! (And that was on an invoice deal to boot!)

Hope you get this one solved!

Mine does it too but I just figured it was the colder weather causing it. I never noticed it before the winter time...

We used to have an Intrepid that shocked you every time you got out. My wife started to use static gaurd(spray), and it worked great. The idea with the drier sheet under the seat is another good idea.

Mine did this at first, it has since gone away. Maybe the weather.

One thing I noticed was that it did it more with my tennis shoes than with my leather work boots.

Ooohhhh I like the washer pump fix idea....
What Stan said. Rub a dryer sheet on it. Or ask your wife to use one when she does the laundry. I have premium cloth and only rarely get shocked.

I've got leather seats, and I get shocked occasionally.
