ST vs SLT...(what the heck) vs Laramie
I am finally buying a new truck this weekend. I had my mind made up with an SLT trim package...But I cant find many differences in the ST vs the SLT. So what is the $2K go towards?
Also, what years were the 4x4 switch offered vs the 4x4 stick on the floor.
Thanks
Z

SLT is worth the money....
the ST's I looked at did NOT have pwr windows, locks, cruise, consoles, overhead readout, decent stereo, remote entry, power heated mirrors. They had blacked out grilles, smaller tires, no tow package, basic metal wheels.
Add that up in the aftermarket and it is waaaaay more than 2k.

Its like a $1400 difference in MSRP , maybe $900 invoice.
SLTs include cloth seats and carpets, center floor console, better seats (but not powered), cruise control, better radio, overhead console, chrome wheels, bigger tires, chrome grill and other tid bits, electric 4X4 shift. Often other options are less money when starting with SLT.
When I looked at it last March, the SLT was a little better deal. Can't get ST in a megacab.

The Laramie was the only one I could find that gave me all the options that I wanted even though I had to get a bunch of stuff I did not want.
Make sure you get the "anti spin".......$300.00 option!

You will appreciate the anti-spin differential if you are ever in mud, snow, or wet grass feed for that matter. The CTD is a heavy engine and you need all the help you can for traction trying to push it. Especially when using e-rated tires that are aired up. Definetly worth the money.

I bought a 2007 SLT 2500 in December and I have power seats (not leather - I believe that is Laramie) and manual 4x4 shift on the floor

Unless it's an option you really want, I think you're better off with the manual 4-wheel drive shifter on the floor. Nothing can go wrong with that. Also, I TOTALLY agree about the anti-spin differential, it makes a world of difference. It's the same thing as Posi-traction, limited slip differential, etc.

I LOVE my ST.... here are some reasons I DID NOT buy the SLT...
Ugly faux wood (I meen come on grandpa buy a caddy already!!!)
NO rubber floors on the slt
The cloth seats in the ST are much better then the "premium" seats in the SLT...IMO.
Comes with a black grill and bumpers (chrome is ugly).
Comes with the tow package and flip mirrors (I think all the CTD's do...)
Has A/C and cruise
No cheater meter (overhead), power windows, locks, or mirrors to break or replace after the 36k warrenty is up.
I just like the interior of the ST sooo much more than ANY of the models I looked at (although the sport package is also very nice) that I could not justify spending the extra money when the only thing I miss is POWER MIRRORS.
