SRT-10 Hood, where to get??
Where and how is the best place to get one of these? I live in Memphis (well i am in the middle east right now) but my wife is in memphis. Is it better to get it from the dealer or get a aftermarket one from a magazine?

dealer is the only way, a little more $ than aftermarket but from being an collision center employee for a few years, most aftermarket panels are a pain to align and get the gaps just right, and the grills on the dodges usually dont fit as good on the aftermarkets, i went with a factory and thats the only way id go, perfect fit, check out my webpage in my profile and watch my slideshow, pretty good pic of what it looks like, i also bought the factory chrome grill instead of and aftermarket

I have to agree with Hillbilly Delux. I got mine through the local dealer, that way you can inspect it for any shipping damage on the spot and have them get you another one if you find any damage, and no shipping charges. Not that easy when the hood is delivered by truck to your door. You have to go through all the hassle with the trucking company, insurance, ect. if there is any damage. My cost with paint ( thought about shooting it myself, but decided to let a pro do it) was about 850.00 and it fit perfect!

They are not aftermarket. They are from a Dodge dealer. I just never checked what my local Dodge dealer charges for it.

Thats not a bad price at all. If I could get it done locally for 850 that is the route I will take in the spring

I'd recommend going through the dealer for the reasons stated here. My dealer matched the best price I found ($564) at one of the on-line dealer sites. I had it painted at a local body shop for $275 and they even mounted it when I came to pick it up.
Now, all I need to do is sell the stock flat hood that's taking up space in the basement!!!!!!

The scoop is functional (open) as received. It allows cool air to enter the engine compartment but the air is not directed anywhere special.
I'm in the process of modifying a MOPAR HEMI under hood duct to fit with the Cummins and it will direct the incoming air onto/into the air filter.

I'll bet that by the time the air gets into the engine that you will see zero gain by having a Ram-Air type setup. It just has too far to go before reaching the engine!! If you just want to show everybody that you can make it, then great. I use mine for looks and it probably helps keep the engine itself a bit cooler....
