Splash guards
What are the best splash guards? I got four from the dealer but when I took them oout of the package and held them up to the truck they did not look very sturdy. I like the moulded kind and I need them on the front and rear. also I don't want to drill a bunch of holes. Thanks, Tracy

Go to your dealer and get the Ram/Dakota Accessory book. it is 8.5x11" bound format with a picture of 3 rams on the cover.

Inside are all kinds of great molded wheel well flaps and even a running board with integral molded whell well flap.

Cummins also has a molded rear flap that had a blue "C" and a red "RAM's head logo" side by side on the molded flap. IT is on the cummins site under dodge ram and accessories (or there abouts)

Re:Splash guards
I had the Dodge molded splash guards installed on my truck at the dealer before I picked it up. Front part number 82207240, rear part number 82207241. List price is $38.00 per pair. They fit well, look good and do a good job of protecting the side of the truck. They appear to be about the same as the Huskys except they don't come with the clear film that protects the paint under them that comes with the Huskys. I did see a post where someone tried to install the clear film and had difficulty in using it and just decided to leave it off.

I also have the Dodge molded flaps that I installed myself. They were easy to put on however you do have to drill a few holes per flap. The screws Dodge supplies has a wax like coating on the threads that helps seal the hole as you screw them in. As far as durability goes I plow snow and as a result I am always backing through windrows and piles of snow and I have not ripped one off yet.

You guys with the huskys, do their screws have the coating on them also.

I have the molded ones (dually) from Dodge. Has a Ram molded into the unit. Very sturdy, only a couple holes to drill. If you work at it a bit, you don't have to pull the rear wheels like the directions state, especially if you have an offset drill. Most of the holes match existing fasteners on the dually. They were as heavy or heavier than anything else I say and cheaper than most of the better ones.

Bob

Do all splash guards require that you drill holes in the wheel well lip in order to mount them? I'm not too keen on having to drill into my brand new truck to mount those things, but I may consider if some have a better mounting setup that others.
