speaker vibration

every once in a while the rear speaker will buzz or vibrate when a song has alittle base in it. I am by no means cranking the base or the volume of these songs, it happpens during normal listening conditions. Does any one know what might be causing this?? Is the door panel vibrating or is the speaker loose inside?? I can only hear it on the driver side. any suggestions is appreciated.

Someone (before you took delivery of the truck) prob. cranked up the volume and busted one of the speakers.

My truck has the noise in the drivers front door. It it has the tell tale sound of a blown speaker but it's actually the door panel vibrating. My dealer already replaced the speaker (Infinity) when I mentioned the noise and it cured nothing.

Last weekend, I pulled the front door panels because i needed to tap into the front speaker wire for an additional speaker install I was tackling. I had the same issue with the vibration or buzz at certain volume/pitch combinations. Behind the door panel, glued to the door frame on my 2004.5 CTD 2500 Quad Cab was a clear plastic sheet. I trimmed this plastic back from the speaker, taped the cut edges down with some duct tape and it seems to have cured my buzzing.

It's either the plastic sheet they put over the doors buzzing, or a blown speaker. I'm leaning towards a blown speaker. Especially if it does it at low volumes.

It is NOT a blown speaker, it IS the clear plastic. Spent a LOT of time on this one. You can take the door panel off and watch the plastic vibrate. I have not come up with a real fix but you can look at where the vapor barrier vibrates, cut a little hole in the plastic and squirt some silicone adhesive in there. I do listen to a lot of bass(talk radio) and had the two front speakers replaced. It did nothing!
This is one of the things that has bugged me about this truck, but as soon as I mash the go stick it more than makes up for it.

I had my truck for 2 days and it sounded to me like the drivers side speaker was blown...then it quit working all together. I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and it was the radio itself. They replaced the radio and it works fine.

Vibration

Thanks for all the info, I don't think the speaker is blown, I'll look at the door panel and see what I need to take it off and look at the plastic. The sound I'm hearing would match up with the vibrating plastic. I'll check it out and let everyone know.

keeping in mind that the sound system on the Ram is TRASH, I can only hope that you find something good to report back on. I can not believe the infinity sound system is as weak as it is. My stock honda speakers on my old accord were easily twice as good as what's in my brand new $40K truck....For shame! I listen to NPR a lot...speakers should not vibrate and hum on NPR, period...

This was an early trip back to the dealer for me. They listened to it and determined the speaker was blown. After changing the speaker, the noise was still there. Turns out it was the door panel vibrating all along. They then used what looked like solid foam weatherstripping in a few places around the speaker so the door panel contacted it. Now I can crank it up with no distortion. This was only needed on the driver's door. Hope you get it fixed soon. - v12xke

Agreed....one of my first mods was ripping out the factory stereo and speakers after the second day of ownership. Unless you are tone deaf, the factory speakers have got to go. They have no treble and the bass is muddy.

A little weatherstripping did the trick on mine as well.

Speaker probably isn't blown

I have the same issue on the right front drivers side door. They replaced the speaker and I still have the same buzzing/vibrating. It amazes me how the members of this board do more investigating than those who actually sell the product. I guess as long as DC is paying they just replace. They also adjusted my drivers side doors to correct the wind noise problem and made it worse.
