Spare tire question
For those of you that have put larger tires on, have you put the larger tire on the spare as well and does it fit. I have 325-60-18's (33x12.50) but I don't have one for a spare, I;m affraid to order one and it not fit. I know some of you guys have some experience with this matter. What do you think.

The 315 17 BFGs on H2 wheels fit in the spare location. But that is getting close to the limit on diameter. Your 33s should fit fine.

It would really suck to have the wrong size spare when you needed it, especially if you were on a trip and a long way from home with non standard size wheels and tires. Even worse if you're out there and have a LS diff and can only run the different size on the front. I can't see putting myself in that position. Get five wheels and tires that match.

Are you sure that tire is 33"? My 315s are around 34"! Mine fits just fine under the truck but there is only about .5" between the tire and the tailpipe........

I drove 750 miles with my OEM size spare up front. Don't put it on the rear with a LSD or use 4x4 if it is up front. Truck looked a little silly, but got me home. No biggy.
Next tire purchase...one of the old 35's will migrate to the spare location.

I did not get a spare BFG 315 when I put mine on. One reason is that I believe the spare rim is 7.5" and not 8". That would be suspect to ride on if I needed to put that tire on the road for any distance. For now I will just use the stock spare on the front if I have to.
I just hope the flat that needs repair is on the front, otherwise that is a lot of tire changing.

When I got my 315s they were $117.00 each new. I got 5 of them and thought I was being smart. Now, in a year or so I will need 3 more and the price has gone up so much that 3 new ones will end up costing me what I paid for the 5 last time!!
By the way, the 315 fits on the spare rim just fine. I just wish I would have laid down a few bucks to buy another chrome clad rim to put it on before I paid $20.00 to get it mounted and balanced. Now when I get my new tires I have to pay again to get it dismounted, remounted, balanced and then one of the old tires mounted and balanced on the spare rim again.....
Word to the wise......................

Check periodicaly on ebay for your stock wheels. I bought two of the stock aluminum ones for my '04 for $50 each. Luckily I was traveling to where the wheels were, so didn't have to pay freight on 'em. Had six wheels then. Had five of 'em powder coated the flame red, then sold the sixth wheel to a guy over on TDR. I just run the stock size tires & now can do a five tire rotation. They are too expensive to let a new tire just hang under the back!
Check my pics to see how red wheels look. Different!

I was sort of planning on just getting the exact wheel/ tire combo for my spare, but you guys are right, that will cost me another $500+. Even though I have 18" wheels, do you think I could just get a tire that is similar in height to my Nitto's and put it on the factory 17" spare?
