The corner of my rear bumper above the tailpipe is stained with soot. How can I scrub or polish this off? Is there a good chemical to use?

it comes off with good ol elbow grease and a good soap. If it is so badly sooted get good metal polish and it will take it right off.

wait until its down the entire side of the trailer too. then you'll really love washing time.

WD-40 will take it right off. Also works wonders on road tar.

Isn't that the "diesel particulate trap" that was factory installed on all CTDs? For me, the "regeneration cycle" involves Windex.

I just spray wheel cleaner on it when I'm doing my wheels. Even use the same brush! Then it hoses right off.

I used to get that except my bumper is red. Any of the cleaning methods posted will work fine. Put a tailpipe extension on it & no more problem. Doesn't have to stick out very far. I "think" mine only extends an inch or so past the stock pipe's end. But, I put it on years ago and don't pay much attention except to wash it.
