Soot buildup on DRW

I usually wash my truck once a week and everytime I wash it I have to wipe all the soot off that gets built up on the truck on both sides(since I have dual exhaust). Does anyone else have this? It seems excessive that it builds up that quickly even when I'm not driving it hard and has been like this since day one, before I made any mods.

I get it a lot too. It really irritates me, my duramax didn't have that problem, and it was a dually also. On my semi's, after a year or so that soot would discolor the paint, causing it to need repainting.

part of being a diesel owner. put a good coat of wax where the soot collects. it will protect the paint and wipe off alot better. you could always put turndowns on your tips.

A turndown exhaust tip cured my soot-covered bumper/quarter panel completely.

Yep...

I dont mind really though, its more of a badge of honor, and I dont really mind the truck having soot back there as I can rarely keep it clean with all the construction and garbage near my work....
