Solid Steel steering stabilizer?

Anyone have one of these on a newer 3rd generation? How does it work for you, improve handling?

Looks pretty identical to what Lazar Smith manufactures. I would buy the one from Lazar Smith first, as they are a vendor here. I have heard it works really well for what it is.

Did you have a ? , I have one on my 94 , also got the adjustable track bar , with the adapter kit -[ to beef up the connection to frame ] .
After seeing some problems with frame , steering ect , I made a point of adding .

After seeing the Solid Steel and the Defiant in person I'd go with the Defiant offering. It costs less, no welds, lower profile and works with aftermarket suspensions.

Good price on that. I'll be adding one when I replace my steering box.

That is a nice unit Pauly.. I didn't realize that Defiant made something like that.

I just bought the Defiant unit. I will work just fine with my KORE Leveling blocks. I thought it was a very good idea, preventative maintenance so to speak. Very well made good looking unit.

I have the DSS from Solid Steel on mine, didn't notice much of a change in ride, I am sorry to say. Haveing recently seen some of the other manufacturers items, I would have preferred them over this one.
Live and learn.

I didn't know the DSS was supposed to change the ride.. I just thought it was supposed to stiffen up steering a bit? Or is that what you meant?

Yeah, chalk that up to brain fart, obviously this will not change your ride. I did not notice any sizable change in the steering. It does seem to have taken some play out of the steering box, but I am still fighting DW, so I really don't seem to have taken any benefit from installing it.

The benefit of the steering brace is 2 fold from what I've seen 1st 2nd gen 4x4 truck I went to look at had a cracked frame next to the rear bolt for steering box , this is an issue with these trucks , especially with ruff roads , loads ect.
2nd is that the steering box is near limit with the weight of the Cummins and can be hard on the output bearing & seal .
I would like to have saved the cost difference but did not know of the other options at the time , but seeing the damage on other trucks its money well spent .

The compliant factory bushings in the trackbar should be retrofitted with our hybrid units to help prevent DW.

If you have a lift you will need an adjustable unit like Thurens
