Smart trade?

I am considering looking at an 04 2500, cummins of course, six speed 305/555. I currently have truck in profile and am debating whether to get a six speed truck or do a valve body/converter on the truck I currently own. I am not happy with the way the stock tranny puts power to the ground, or should I say does'nt put it to the ground. I have not been real happy with the mileage since I got it either. I do drive with a heavy foot, but no heavier than I did with my 00 and it did alot better. I know with going with the 305 hp truck it will not have a cat or 3rd injection event and is supposed to do better on fuel. I have heard that pulling your trailer with a six speed truck is like pulling with a semi. With my automatic it seems like i give it a ton of throttle it makes alot of noise(straight pipe) and I slowly pick up speed. For you guys that have done a tc/vb doe's it pull right off the bat or is it slow to start as well. Just looking for the pro's and con's of each truck and which way to go.

Thanks

We are in the same boat. Don't like the TC at all when pulling heavy. Fine other wise. It wasn't that bad until after I upgraded my horse trailer to a LQ Horse trailer. Now when it is hooked to the trailer I can't stand it. But I don't know if it is worth taking a beating over. Decisions, Decisions.....

You can make the trade. Better yet sell yours and buy the other one out right. What kind of mileage is on the 04 and your 04.5? If your going to pull anything heavy the manual is the only way to go. I hear the autos winding up and not going anywhere.

33500 on mine, 52000 on the one I am looking at. I would have to come out good on the trade to do it.
