Go for the defroster - as you might have gathered from all the posts showing how worthless the slider is for the most part. I got the rear defroster, although haven't had to use it yet. I will comment though, the contacts to the defroster wiring are visible in the open and dodge could have done a better job in that regards, but if it melts the snow when I move up north I'll be happy! I like one whole piece of glass too. Easier to clean, less chance for leaks, theft, noise, etc.

Get the defroster. The slider is worthless. The slider rattles when cold and leaks a little when washing the truck. I'm about ready to epoxy the slider for good!

After all the good suggestions here we decided to do without the 'beer' window and ordered the solid glass window with the defroster. And now the wait...

It sure is great to have a place to get an lot of good advice from the voices of experience, even from Tom Ball, Texas!

Mickey B, you live close enough to Houston that I should send you a sympathy card. I was born and raised in Dallas.

Too bad you live in a communist state!
Hopefully the Terminator can straighten things out.

MikeyB,

Both my parents were born in Calif in 1922 when there was lots of elbow room here. I remember when L.A. reached 1 million people. Now we have more than 30 million in the state (10% of USA). HELP! Close the borders, hand out free birth control, send them to Oregon!

Has anyone swapped out a slider for a heater rear window? I want to shed the useless slider and install the defrosterized rear glass.

Button? What button? I have the TT mirrors (electric) and though the heat comes on when the outside temp drops. Do you turn the heat on for yours?

If had to do it again, I would ditch the sliding rear window, and go with the defroster... I never use it anyway...
