Which is skinniest and talest tire?
I know similar questions have been asked, but I couldn't find a definate answer to my question. Going by size what is taller and skinnier, 245/70-17 or a 265/70-17 Isn't it the first number is how many milimeters wide and the second number is percentage of that first number indicating sidewall heighth?
What I want is a tall but skinny tire, like a lot of the earlier Fords have, but will fit on my 06 2500. Thanks for any info.

Here is a link to a tire height calculator. http://www.ringpinion.com/Calc_RPM.aspx
Looks like the 265 is taller by about an inch.
BFGoodrich makes a 245/75/17 load range E.

Actually no, the dealer cannot flash your truck for the correct size. The highest the dealer can go with your truck (an 07) is for the height of a 285/70/17 tire, which is the stock size on the Power Wagons. The height of the 285's is about 32.7 inches, so you'll still be off a bit.
The 2004.5 and 05 trucks speedo can be corrected by revs per mile; I don't know if there is a 'max' number. The 06's and above can only be corrected by tire size, or max revs per mile of 617, which is what the 285/70/17's are....
Someone chime in if I'm wrong here, but that's the last information I had...

Did you have to use spacers between the rear tires to keep them from touching? I've been looking at the LT285/75/17 E (34") Nitto Durra Grapplers.
