six-disc in-dash... will it play mp3?

While waiting for a 2005 3500 I got to wondering if the factory player will support the mp3 format. Does anyone out there know if it does? Their website says the one in the Durango and caravan do but they don't say one way or the other about the player in the Ram.

I think not. I had a factory 6 disc changer in the 04.5 2500 CTD I had, and it did not.

My 04 does not support MP3. I would think the 05 is the same.

Now, the 05 Dakota is a an all new package, and the Dodge web page shows a different unit and lists that it does support MP3. Probably the same for the Durango as you mentioned.

I would think this would give us hope that a new 06 Ram would have the new stereo unit that Dodge is putting in the Dakata this year. However, this is just my quess.

My friends new 05 won't play mp3's but another friend has the new Durango that will but it is not a 6 disc changer in the Durango. Imagine if it had a 6 disc mp3 player that would be around 50-60 hours of uninterrupted music.

Actually, they should have the MP3 and the option to subscribe to XM Radio. That would do it for me. I doubt anyones brothers, uncle, friends sister has an 04.5 unit that plays MP3--it probably just plays home burned Audio files.

The current unit is nice, and it plays all the CDs I have burned, but its time for the new model with MP3 and XM radio.

i've never tried it... i'll have to do that someday and see. i know mine will play burned cd's... if it could play mp3's that would be slick.. if not, then there is always them add cd changers [and use one of those adapters to let you have a regular line input...

The new '05 Dodge Magnums has a CD/MP3 player option. Is it available in the '05 Rams?
