Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I found a 2003 2500 4x4 HO diesel auto 4x4 SLT. It has plow & trailer tow package, bed liner, 4:10 anti slip axle. They gave me a price of 30,888 + tax & rg. Is this a good price for the truck.

Thanks,

Rob

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

How about getting the 2500 with the camper package? That's what I have and I have the extra overload leaf. It sits pretty high in the back until I hitch up the 5er. Then it levels out just right. Buzz

There is no camper package that I know of. Can someone else clear that up maybe.

[/quote]Must have been an 02 option for Buzz, I just did a "build & price" at http://www.dodge.com/ram_2500_3500/index.html and didn't see any camper special options. Also i noticed that we now have the 04 selection to choose ;D.

The overload was an option on the Gen IIs. It is no longer available as an option on the 2500s.It is standard on the 3500s. So if you want an overload you will have to order the 3500 and live with the cab marker lights, higher insurance and registration fees. I originally wasn't crazy about the cab marker lights but they sorta grow on you once you replace any that leak. I had to replace two when I got my truck and have had no problems with them since.

Does any body know if they will offer a 3500 Regular cab 4x4 with single rear wheels for 04'? I know 03' didn't offer it. I hope they do or I will have to get 2500. I just wish the 2500 had over load springs like 3500.

I was told by a Dealer that the single rear wheels for the o4 will be offered on the 3500.

i love the marker lights. since reading the threads here from people that hate them, i have asked everyone that i could when i show them my truck. so far i have not found one person (this from truck lovers, people that have never owned a truck, etc. etc.) and have found no one, read that as zero, none, nada, that did not like the marker lights better than the dodge without them. that is out of about 50 people so far.

second, where do you get your insurance? when i insured mine, my agent told me that if i had the 2500, it would have cost me MORE in insurance than the 3500, even though it costs less (depending on options, but the base price is less). i asked her why that was, she didn't know but says it is pretty common in the industry.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I have Nationwide insurance. Before I purchased mine I had my agent compare the 3500 SRW to the 2500. The 3500 SRW was appx. $80.00 per year more than the 2500. Not a bunch but still more.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I'm pretty sure you can order the 3500 dually with a rear wheel delete to get it with the long bed.

Re:Single rear wheel 3500

I had the same dilema in choosing between the 3/4 ton and 1 ton. I thought I wanted the 1 ton for the slide in I plan to purchase. I decided to go with the 3/4 ton because the ride was better. Adding overloads would only run 150 if I wanted them or I could go for airbags. The Running gear is all the same with the HO engine so that wasn't an issue. Driving both trucks back to back made me decide to go with the 3/4 because the slide in camper will only run 2000-2500lbs and my raft trailer is 1200 lbs. I won't be driving it loaded enough and as my daily driver I prefer the 3/4 ton. Good luck in your decision.
