OK. Just got through putting my truck back together without having any success at trying to do what I was intending to do. From N. Johnsons recommendation of removing the "baffled torque tube", here is what I did.
I removed the large rubber tube coming from the backside of the air breather and also removed it from where this tube connects to the turbo. With this entire piece in my hands, I removed both rubber flex ends and had a round, solid black plastic piece in my hands. Inside this piece and for the length of the tube, a + shaped piece of plastic which had many holes in it was found.
Figuring this was what is referred to as the "baffles" in the tube, I found no way of taking this apart or removing the + shaped device from inside. Admitting defeat, I put it all back together again and gave up.
Is this the right piece that is referred to as the "baffled torque tube" and if so, how do you conquer this beast?
Thanks.

We took the silencer ring off of my dad's 2000 24V the week before Christmas and it helped on the low end, on the top end could tell more whistle than power increase. His is stock exept for a Green replacement air filter and not sure about the muffler, it is there but it is only about the size of a coffee can instead of a 55 gallon barrel.
On my 04 the muffler was replaced by a piece of pipe, and I could not tell as much of a sound difference at first unloaded, but could feel a little more pep to it. When my muffler disappeared my truck lost its grunt below 1700 rpms, after the silencer ring came out it feels like it has more power at 1500 than it does at 2100 with the module on 60hp. I could really tell a difference on it with my trailer hooked up moving away at little to no throttle in 2nd gear. As for the sound, before the ring it was really loud at 75mph going up a hill, after the ring it sounds like that at 70 on level ground.
