Shifting a Diesel
#16
Thanks for the replies, I really didn't know about the no throttle when taking off from a stop, see I learned something before I even bought my truck.
Thanks everyone for your help,
Gary

Thanks Shane, I'm flattered I just tack up to about 2600rpm's and ease into it the first part until I can feel things start to engage and turn it loose. As I'm letting off the clutch I increase throttle at the same time until clutch is completely engaged and the go pedal is on the floor. And I leave it there for the duration of the run dont be scared the truck has a governer this is not exactly what it was designed for but you wont hurt it. All the shifts made after taking off are made with the truck floored you'll find the truck will shift smoother and way faster than if you let up on the throttle everytime. Hope this helps you out it just takes some practice. I've always hand hand shakers all of em are different and it just takes time to figgure them out no one thing will work for all of them my 97 with the FE would not put up with this type of shifting due to the gov springs. 4 words over revved...floating valves.
