I agree with getting the online quotes to use as a tool to keep your local dealer honest. I would not buy online though personally. Keep your money at one spot if possible. I prefer where you are getting it fixed. Everyone blames the dealer for not wanting to fix their vehicle. I have managed many dealerships. I have never managed one that did not want to take care of the customer. Never, not one. Do not buy an aftermarket. They do not care about you. Chrysler does care and the dealer cares as they all want you to purchase again from them.If Chrysler does not give a green light to a repair then the dealer can go to bat for you or you can call Chrysler direct and talk right to them. Again remember they do want you to come back and sometimes they do make exceptions. I have never seen a claim that maxcare did not cover unless it was abuse or neglect. If you are sold a powertrain warranty and want to get a window motor fixed it will not happen and is not the fault of the warranty. If the warranty was misrepresented by the finance manager as going to fix those things then he is at fault. Maxcare, 0 deductable, only way to fly. Chrysler will charge an extra 100 dollars after the truck has 12k or 12 months on it. Not a huge deal. To what I know of all dealers pay the same for the warranty. I am no longer in the business so no real help on the pricing.

Try getting some online quotes, some dealers operate under an Internet name online, and sell the Chrysler warranties. One example is eservicecontracts.com.
This is how I bought mine, my local dealer wanted $2700 as well, he would not or could not touch the $1750 price I got online....
Just make sure you are getting a Chrysler warranty, not a third-party warranty.

I can't do it myself for that price!

I got a 7 yr/ 100k mile warranty. In 03 it was about $1600. $100 ded. Oh yea, it's been just great. Dealer charges about $75 just to diagnose any problem but will apply it to ded if covered. So far,,,, Thought ball joints bad, $75 diag fee, dealer said they are OK. But at the same time dealer said wheel bearings bad, not covered. Cracked dash, trim is not covered. Wind noise not bad enough to be fixed. But it did cover the 6 disk CD, ft pinion and leaky stearing box. Just roll the dice.

Actually, what's on the signed contract is what counts. Whatever their little protons are telling you doesn't really matter. If it's not on paper, it didn't happen.
But, getting the service manager to see that fine legal point is another matter.
