Seat Belt Chime - turning it off

Has anyone sucessfully turned off the seat belt chime per the insructions in the owners manual? What's the trick? I've tried three or four times to do it by the instructions in the manual, and can't seem to get it! ???

Same problem here and it's really bugging me! When I'm manouvering my trailer into it's parking spot, the seatbelt gets in the way. If I unhook the belt, the chime drives me crazy!! If we can't disable the chime, I'm thinking of removing it even though it works in addition to the warning light for brake failure.

Re:Seat Belt Chime - turning it off

Apparently the dealer can turn it off, maybe via their computer. There are instructions in the owners manual on how to turn off the chime, but I can't seem to get them to work >

I managed to turn mine off...i wish i could turn off the ''key in ignition'' now...I just followed the instructions but as i recall it kind of threw me because the first turn of the key didnt count so it takes one more...also turned off that auto lock feature..but it does work..

I turned mine off (seat belt) and the horn honk when locking the doors...keep working at it and you will get it.

I wan the key in ingition to go away also, but have not looked into it.

Re:Seat Belt Chime - turning it off

Thanks guys. Somehow after ten times or so I got it to work. I think the reason it worked this last time is that after I did the whole process, I only turned the key off one notch, instead of all the way to off/where you can pull the key out. Oh well, I turned off the horn honk and the seat belt chime, two major annoyances gone!!

Re:Seat Belt Chime - turning it off

lucky guy. It happens after you remove the seat belt and drive something like over 10mph for a while, it takes a few seconds then starts chiming away..

To do that you will probably have to trace the wire and cut it or as I did, pull it out of the plug at the steering column on my '99.

Re:Seat Belt Chime - turning it off

You can also go under the drivers seat from the back and jump the 2 wires that lead into the seat belt latch and the truck thinks the seat belt is on all the time. cured 2 things; the chiming, and the light in the dash that annoyed me.
