Screwy windsheild wipers

My windsheild wipers are begining to act stupid.

Set on intermittant they wipe once a couple of times, then wipe twice or three times in a row, then back to once for a little while then twice or three times. This goes on and on until I set them to high, low or off.

When I turn them off they will stop where ever they are instead of returning home.

Anybody got any ideas what might be wrong? I won't be real happy when they quit altogether and I need them.

BTW, repairs are on my dime now. Any help is appreciated.

When you figure yours out, let me know so I can fix mine. Mine has been doing the EXACT SAME thing you just described.

Same here. Took it to dodge when it was still under warranty, they said that they could not duplicate the gripe. Imagine that...

Funny, mine started doing that excact thing lately. On intermittant it will wipe from 1-12 times, then work normal for a couple of pulses. It seems to get worse the longer they are on. As well, if you turn the switch to off with the wiper at mid stroke, it will freeze right there, not return to stop.

Its funny you posted this, I was going to post the same problem yesterday but the site was down for repair. Mine does all the above plus sometimes when you turn it on to intermittent I get nothing, have to turn it all the way to low or high to get it to work, then I can go back down to intermittent. I was thinking it had to do something with the solenoid but I haven’t had time to look at it. I would hate to have to replace the motor and it not be the problem, like Caltom it’s my dime to (figures only 2k miles over my warranty).

P.S. Caltom, where in Grapevine you live? I work in Grapevine, maybe if someone figures this problem out we can get them fixed at the same time.

Wonder if it's the switch? Hope not, that will be a pain.

Mine does the turn on and nothing happens until you go to high or low speed settings as well.

Thats funny to, I used to live in Grapevine TX when I was a kid. Maybe that has something to do with this?

At first I thought it was the new winter wipers I up on, but they have been acting stupid this spring. Ya think dodge would put out a TIB on this.????? ya right LOL

I saw lots of that problem on the 2nd gen trucks. It was always a failure of the park switch in the motor. The park switch goes open when the wipers are "parked" right at the bottom of their stroke, and would cause the wipers to stop there after the wiper switch is turned off. When the park switch fails, the wipers will stop wherever they are when the wiper switch is turned off. Unfortunately, the park switch is only serviced as an assembly with the motor and linkage.

My wipers did the same thing. Took it in under warranty and had the wiper motor replaced. No problems since.
