Satellite radio static issue
After having satellite radio for a few weeks now I have been noticing static and sometimes distortion, especially during the daytime. I turned off the FM transmitter and used a cassette adapter through the audio out. No more static and a very clean. So here's my dilemma, should I spend the $90 for a PIE aux box with adapter cable for a direct connect to the receiver or spend $20 for a FM modulator relay?
Anyone used both and can tell a difference?

My wife had the same problem in her Durango. We ended up going the cheap route with the FM modulator. Worked like a champ. Sounded so much better I went ahead and picked one up for my truck as well.
Car Toys tried to sell me their "solution" when I explained the issue we were having, they wanted to fix me up with the AUX box and all of these cables and connectors, etc...(around $200 worth of junk). Having some experience in car audio I chose to go somewhere else. I picked up our FM modulators at Circiut City for around $20. You will also need two antena adapters if you are using the stock radio. One to convert the antena wire to plug into the modulator, one to convert the modulator wire to plug into the back of the stock radio. I picked those up at best buy for around $8 a piece.

Did your satellite box come with a fm out antenna? I have the same static problem and mine didnt come with the antenna. I have installed about 3 other sat boxes and the others had this little wire antenna that plugged into the box and none of them had static problems.

I wish I would have known that...

Update: I picked a Sirius wired FM modulator relay from Circuit City for $20. Goes on tomorrow and should solve my issue.
Thanks for the info.
