Safety ratings for '04 dodge dually cummins

How do the safety ratings compare with Ford?

I searched and couldn't find anything.

Don't know about official ratings, but . . .

1) I don't think Ford or GM offers side curtain airbags. I ordered them on mine.

2) Our brakes are superior.

I don't know if they crash test trucks this big. It would interesting to know how they do. I have a feeling they all perform crappy in crash tests which assume equivalent opposing forces. What are the the odds that we would hit another 3/4 or 1 ton truck in a random head-on?

a_peep, All

Did you see the Ford rollover tests on CNN 5/27/04 (yesterday). They compared the F150 to the Volvo (which Ford owns) The F150 crushed to the top of the doors and the Volvo remained intact.

They asked the Ford saafety person which vehicle would he prefer to have his family in during a rollover - he responded Volvo (of course).

I beleive there is a lawsuit pending relating to a person hurt in a rollover. He is now in a wheelchair.

The F150 apparently meets US safety standards - I wonder if our RAMs would do as poolerly! The Volvo exceeds the standards by 100%.

Do we need to install roll bars or just keep them on all four feet...

This thread brings up an interesting conversation. Until 2004 all of the Ford F-150 series did horrible in the crash tests. I don't think the Dodges were much better until the 3rd gen either.

Like mentioned above, they have only tested the 1500s which did fairly well, but I would think the the 2500s and 3500s would crash differently due to the much higher weight up front. I also agree that Dodge has incredible brakes in these 3rd gen trucks. How many other pickups have 13.9" brake rotors all the way around with twin piston calipers. We also have a rear hat in rotor setup, so the emergency brakes are drums and act as a true emergency brake.
