Running lights / Parking lights on - switch off
It's snowing here to beat the band. I just looked outside and noticed my running lights are on. Did I leave my switch on?....Nope...some ghost in the machine has turned on my park/ running lights and is wanting to kill my batteries.
Any thoughts or ideas what is going on?

No the lights are on and are staying on. Keys are nowhere near. Obviously a short somewhere but where to start looking is another question. Thought I had it all figured out by wiggling the harness and connector which plugs into the switch but shortly after they came on again. Finally had to give up and disconnect the batteries because I want to be able to start tomorrow.

Sounds as if the switch is bad. I think the power flows from the battery to the switch position and then to the corresponding light, although im no electrical expert by any means. know just enough to be dangerous. Also, what is the longest they have stayed on? I know that there is a delay after shutdown.

Well looks as if I might have it figured out. I checked the relay for the parking lamps and removed it. Of course the lights went out. I pluged it back in and the lights did not come back on. Then about 25 seconds later I heard a click click click and they came back on. I changed out the relay and they have been good for over an hour now. Thanks to all who replied.

This is good information! My truck is doing the same thing & I figured it was a stuck relay as well.
Just goes to show that SOMEONE out there has already had EVERY vehicle problem there is to have. These forums are great.
