That is some good MPG for sure, I am lucky to get 16 on the highway. The tank looks very good, nice work for sure! Question, those baffles you used were did you find that? Does a regular steel places handle them? Really want to build my own tank now, seems so simple instead of paying a fortune. Also how thick is the steel in "? I am not good at going by gauge

Great looking tank and outstanding workmanship. I might give you a call. Hope you saved the patterns. I know you built the tank because you were going to Colo. but I gotta ask--You do know they sell diesel in Colo. so you don't need to carry enough for your whole trip.

Yeah I know they have fuel but they don't have free fuel.
I just got to ask did you read any of the previous posts?
Thanks for the compliments

I'm getting free fuel from friend
My friend's uncle owns a barge repair company who sometimes gets a barge with a couple 1,000 gallons of diesel in it they use to pay somebody to hall it off. Now like a smart man my friend takes what he can and stores it a his shop.
Lucky me!!!

You might want to think about putting a lock on the filler cap! Just a thought.

It's a 3/8" hose anyone have suggestions on a filter?
DD, I don't know why but I just read through this thread. Nice job on the fab and finish! I was going to suggest going by tractor supply or some place similar. You can pick up a spin-on filter and base there. I really don't know what the micron rating is on the inline you're using. It looks like an old Chrysler V8 filter. At least they're easy to find and carry with you.

I believe the rollover valve in the filler tube will prevent that. As long as everything is tight and the rollover valve seals, it should be OK. But I'd be worried about it pushing out the vent. Have you ran it with the valve open and both tanks completely full? I'll be interested to hear how this works long term. Might consider something similar for the '07 at some point in the future. I'm a firm believer in the "KISS" principle. Especially when I can make it better myself.

I like "simple."

How is this setup working for you after all this time? I bought a tank and plumbed it into my vent line to, but today I had a bad experience filling up. When my truck was pretty much full, I heard and seen diesel spilling under my truck The tank was pretty much full, no idea where/why the diesel is coming out though, and no the aux tank is DRY. I was filling threw the factory tank hole. I couldn't get under the truck just get to check out the issue, but anyone got any idea? I took a really quick peek and it didn't look like any connections came undone or anything, almost looked like it was coming from the top of my tank? Nothing more coming out since then.....

edited by admin pretty sure I need a front axle U-joint to ugh
