Replaced Shocks (Bilstein)

Replaced Shocks (Bilstein)
I replaced all four shocks on the 06 2WD today, overall it was pretty easy. My truck has 37,500 miles, 27K with 19.5's and 245 70R19.5 tires, and about 10K carrying a 4500lb truck camper. The factory shocks were fairly stiff to compress, so not sure if they actually needed replacing.
I replaced with Bilstein, and I honestly think the Bilstein shocks and the factory shocks are comparable. I'm not sure I see a huge improvement, but I haven't really road tested yet.
I have seen a lot of posts where people were noticing night and day difference, and others not. Time will tell. Anyway, for $204, all new Bilstein shocks. My local Ford dealer wants $525 to replace shocks on 04 Expedition with Ford oem shocks.

I noticed Genos Garage.com is offering a buy 3 get 1 free sale on the Bilsteins, I'm so tempted to get some.
Has anyone install them on a 3500 dually, has it smoothed out the bumps any?
My rancho 9000 on my 94 are easy riding on the lowest setting.

Completely agree! Stock on my truck were gone before 12K miles. Went through another set from a suspension company and those lasted about 9K. Bilsteins are head and shoulders better and the cost is nothing compared to replacing the others a couple of times a year!

Let me ask this how do you tell if shocks are bad unless they have an oil leak, I know at 50k my OEM shocks probably aren't the best, but on a 2500 4x4 you can't really push it up and down and see that the dampening isn't there. I don't feel mine dampen the way they should and probably do need replacement but other wise how would you tell, especially if you bought a used vehicle and didn't know that they had deteriated.

Unbolt one end and move it up/down. It should be very hard to move...
