removing wax from fender flares

All,

I know this has been covered before, but I can't seem to locate the thread. What are you guys using to get the wax off of the fender flares, black rubber, Line-X and other trim pieces?

I've tried back to black, but have better luck with Mcquires detailer.

Back to Black will wash off in the rain and run down the side of your truck. I have not found anything to take the wax off that does a good job without coming off when you wash your truck or when it rains. I am also looking for suggestions.

Go to the grocery store and buy yourself a bottle of SeaBreeze skin cleaner. It will remove the wax off of your trim pieces and fenderflares. Will not harm anything or discolor. Much cheeper than most auto cleaners or detailers. Back to black only covers and usually runs off like amourall.

SeaBreeze is primarily isoproplyl alcohol. I will try this first.

Thanks!

Might try a Mr. Clean Magic eraser. I use it to take oxidation and the fading off black trim pieces, might take the wax off too.

After you remove it switch to NXT wax, it's synthetic and doesn't leave any residue on plastics/rubber.

I've heard a pencil eraser works well and I've read many places that Peanut Butter works well.

Go to your local NAPA or paint shop and get a bottle of dewaxer. It's specifically designed to remove car wax during paint prep.

If the fender flares are textured, use a fine soft bristle brush to get it out of the grooves. Be gentle, or you could damage the plastic

will this also "melt" the plastic like other removers I have used?

It will if you use the wrong one. Lots of auto body parts are plastic these, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding what you need. If you're not sure, test it on a small portion that can't normally be seen.
